They are however obliged to adhere to corporate law principles and tenets of labour laws dispensation. One of such unions that has made significant impact in the economy is Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance Workers (UNICOF).

Established in 2003 and an affiliate of Trade Union Congress (TUC) Ghana, UNICOF is really positioned to organize, educate and develop the potentials of workers in industry, commerce and finance and allied sectors towards enhanced productivity, better working conditions and job security in addition to its main vision to be among Africa’s well managed unions capable of meeting the emerging needs and aspirations of its large membership.
UNICOF under John Amegashie is indeed highly respected for its democratic principles coupled with transparent and good corporate practices. It is strategically endowed with professionals with high caliber legal practitioner which makes members feel safe and also resolves industrial disputes between management and labour amicably.
The union’s competent professionals in industrial relation practice lead to engage employers to secure decent Collective Agreement for members to enjoy good working life.
The global Covid-19 menace and its related variants have indeed have devastating toll on workers worldwide and Ghana is no exception with huge number of workers especially in the hospitality industry losing their job and many others having their salaries slashed drastically.
With all these Covid-19 threats, UNICOF remains resilient and continues to educate its large membership to observe all legal safety restrictions and protocols of the Covid-19 in order to remain safe.
