Asa Savings and Loans has disbursed a scholarship package worth GH¢10,000 to 20 bright students to assist them to access quality education.
Ten students each were selected from the Alajo Business Centre and Newtown Business Centre respectively and each student was awarded GH¢500 each. The beneficiaries consist of upper primary to SHS students.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Emmanuel Osae Addo, Area Manager for Newtown Area of ASA Savings and Loans, said the scholarship forms part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support brilliant but needy students in the society.
“We believe that our business in the community will not be complete without empowering people through education, which is key to success.”
The scholarship programme is to give easy access to education where the cost of educating a child will not deter him or her from dropping out of school.
“Also, the negative effect of the COVID-19 on parents and their businesses is one reason Asa Savings and Loans Limited see as a motivating factor to assist parents by providing this extensive education support to their wards.
Our plan and prayer is that this scholarship programme will in the long run break the cycle of poverty in household, families and in the society, Mr. Addo said.
The CSR programme is not only organised in Alajo and Newtown but across other operational areas of Asa Savings and Loans Limited.
As part of our business operations, it’s important that we help our clients and the broader community in which we operate to provide all kinds of support to improve their livelihood.
