Management of Cocoa Post, the organizers of the Cocoa Awards scheme has entered into a partnership with the Business and Financial Times (B&FT) for this year’s cocoa awards.
The event, which is slated for November 12, 2021, at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, is on the theme, ‘Celebrating Ghana’s Historic Cocoa Production Milestone – A Golden Opportunity For The Local Value Addition Agenda’.
The awards would be heralded with the Ghana Cocoa Summit at the same venue and will be on the theme, ‘Exploring Agribusiness Opportunities in the Ghana’s Cocoa Value Chain for Jobs and Wealth Creation’.
Executive Director of Cocoa Post, Kojo Hayford, speaking to the B&FT on the collaboration, said the 2021 edition of Ghana Cocoa Awards is another great opportunity to cast the limelight of national appreciation on heroes behind production of cocoa, as Ghana’s economic backbone.
He said, there could be no better way of recognising these amazing Cocoa men and women than creating the platform for them to tell their stories individually and collectively.
“Though Cocoa Post has its media unit to publish these stories, we believe we can cover more grounds through the power of collaboration. That’s why we deem this partnership very crucial, in that it affords us the opportunity to leverage the resource of B&FT’s wide reach and great esteem in the business community,” Mr. Hayford indicated.
Indeed, Ghana recorded the biggest ever cocoa harvest in its 142-year history of growing the cash crop and the story has made headlines both in and beyond the country.
But Mr. Hayford maintained that what did not made headlines, are the many dedicated individuals and organisations across the Cocoa industry value chain whose hard work made this milestone possible. The Cocoa Awards, he said, will continue to celebrate men and women who are contributing significantly to the cocoa value chain in Ghana.
Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker at the events is the Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board, Joseph Boahen Aidoo. He stressed that the collaboration between the two institutions is to leverage the B&FT brand to create awareness among the business community in Ghana to share information on the events.
“The benefit to B&FT is consolidate the paper’s position in cocoa-interest issues as there’s no gainsaying that the commodity has become Ghana’s economic backbone and has been for decades. Through this, we hope to further enhance visibility for brand B&FT in the cocoa value chain,” Sales Manager of B&FT, Latif Bogobiri said.
The result of the partnership is expected to see the two organizations jointly curating at least a 24-page special pull-out edition covering the 2021 Ghana Cocoa Summit & Awards.
