The West African Insurance Company Association (WAICA) has inducted Mr. Saye Gbalazeh as its new president. He took over from Raymond Maculay in an impressive ceremony held in Monrovia Liberia.
Gbalazeh is the Managing Director of Activa International Insurance Liberia Limited, a member company of the Activa group with presence in several West African countries.
Gbalazeh, at a point, was Assistant Vice President and Consultant at Medical Malpractice Healthcare Division – a leading professional liability insurance company in Hartford Financial District, Farmington, Connecticut, in the United State of America between 2008 and 2014.
He also managed Broker Relations covering the eastern seaboard, and was responsible for underwriting and managing a US$30million account of healthcare professional liability business.
Later, he became programme director of Healthcare Professional Liability Programme, United States Risk Group/Lighthouse Underwriters, Headquartered in Dallas, Texas. From 2000-2008, he managed Brokers and Agents’ Relationships, responsible for underwriting, managing employees and a US$35million book of Healthcare/Professional Liability business, Countrywide, USA. He was also Assistant Professor of Insurance Law, Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia 2017.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, University of Liberia, Monrovia; Casualty, Life & Health, West African Insurance Institute (WAII) now situated in the Gambia). He also holds a Bachelor of Law, Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia, Monrovia, Liberia 1989; Master in Business Administration (Risk Management, Property, Casualty, Legal Environment of Insurance), College of Insurance, Risk management & Actuarial Science, the Peter J. Tobin College of Business, St. John’s University, New York 1993.
Saye Gbalazeh is a member of the Liberia National Bar Association.
