Mr. Victor Obeng-Adiyiah, Managing Director, Unique Insurance Company has reviewed to the insuring public that the Teachers’ Fund (GNAT) has increase its shareholding in the company to 95%.

This has made the company the only local Ghanaian company within Ghana’s Insurance industry with over 2 billion Ghana cedis capital fund to leverage on ahead of the recapitalisation deadline that ends in December 2021.

He made this revelation last week, while presenting a cheque for GH¢20,000 and boxes of assorted confectionaries to children on admission at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital at Ridge to aid in their speedy recovery.

It was in honour of another year of celebrating globally the Customer under the theme ‘The Power of Service’.According to the Managing Director ‘service’ has diverse meanings; however, Unique Insurance chooses to associate itself with ‘The Action of Helping Someone’.

He said: “In 2020, we visited the Paediatric Unit of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital and pleaded to extend our kindness to them every year as part of our customer service week celebration. Some of our colleague insurers chose to go to the educational sector, but we at Unique chose the health sector.

“More importantly, as known by all, customers are the animating force of every entity with a going concern. Keeping them requires a multifaceted approach, so what comes out most among the lot for us is the quality of empathy.”

Importantly, too, he emphasised that at Unique Insurance: “We have this as our guiding principle, we hold our customers dearly – both current and prospective; whether an external or internal customer, your need will always come first to us,” Adiyah pointed out.

He said, in view of having this in mind, Unique launched a campaign dubbed ‘Brakes May Fail, Our Insurance Doesn’t’ and it was spearheaded by ‘ASANTEWAA’.

He pointed out that all the campaign seeks is that – in the unlikely event of the risk occurring either through a motor accident, flood to goods and building, fire in both domestic and commercial properties or any other insurable risk resulting in claims payment – we shall not fail.

Dr. Yvonne Brew, Head of the Paediatric Unit of the Greater Accra Regional Office, thanked the board, management and staff of Unique Insurance for this kind gesture. She called on other cooperate institutions to emulate Unique Insurance’s gesture.

She led nurses and other doctors through various wards of the hospital, explaining to management and staff of Unique what pertains in each ward – especially the Kangaroo mother care unit, which deals with pre-term babies.
