The Ministry of Finance has urged the public to disregard rumours circulating on social media suggesting that the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has resigned from his post.

A statement from the Ministry assured that “Mr. Ofori-Atta is at post and focused on his mandate, given to him by His Excellency the President, to serve the people of Ghana in his capacity as Finance Minister”. 

“The Ministry wishes to assure the general public that there is no truth in these rumours. The general public is advised to disregard these rumours”.

In the first quarter of 2021, government announced that Mr. Ofori-Atta was out of the country to treat COVID-19 complications.

During the period, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu presented the national budget on behalf of the finance minister.

Mr. Ofori-Atta returned to the country to present the mid-year budget review in July 2021.
