Provisional results from the 2021 Population and Housing Census pegged Ghana’s current population at 30.8million.
This means there has been an addition of 6.1 million people since the 2010 census.
The figure constitutes 50.7 percent females and 49.3 percent males, Government statistician, Prof Samuel Kobina Anim, said during the presentation of the results on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
Meanwhile, the Greater Accra region has overtaken Ashanti as the nation’s most populous region with Ahafo replacing Upper West as the nation’s least populous region.
Again, according to the results, average household size, which has been on the decline since 2000, is 3.6 members.
Out of the 10.7 million structures counted, about 20% of them were metal containers, kiosks, and wooden structures.
