e-Crime Bureau, an industry leader in West Africa of cybersecurity, digital forensics and intelligence, has launched its 10th anniversary celebration in Accra to pave the way for activities earmarked for its anniversary.

Addressing the media on how the journey for the past ten years of cyber security has been, Board-member of the e-Crime Bureau, Kwame Antwi-Boasiako, said a lot has been achieved by the organisation within the decade in terms of providing forensic investigations and impacting others with the requisite skills.

“We have done a lot; we have had partnerships and collaborations with the Kofi Annan International PeaceKeeping Training Centre (KAIPTIC). We have opened a Cyber-Laboratory over there, and also partnered with the Criminal Investigation Department. We have also had partnership with the Judiciary, in which we help to provide investigative analyses on cybercrime,” he said at the event themed ‘Celebrating 10 years of Cyber Security excellence’.

He added that the organisation has in conjunction with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) opened a laboratory, where individuals are given training on Cyber-education at the Master’s level.

According to Mr. Bosiako, the organisation’s impact on the country is enormous – it has as created awareness on the need for individuals to tread cautiously in using the Internet so far as cyber fraud is concerned.

Mr. Bosiako added that the organisation has provided support to various industries – including timely interventions to prevent financial institutions from experiencing multiple cyber-attacks – through advocacy programmes.

The guest of honour – the Chairman of Silicon Valley-Ghana, Dr. Thomas Mensah – appreciated the organisation’s good work and stated that the award received by the organisation is truly one that speaks of their good work.

“I must congratulate the Board, Management and Staff of e-Crime Bureau for being adjudged the Cyber Security Company of the Year at the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Editions of the Ghana Information Technology & Telecommunications Awards (GITTA). The Bureau was also recognised in 2019 by the Mobex Innovation Awards Scheme as the Cyber/Anti-Fraud Company of the Year for its innovation in the fight against cybercrime and other forms of financial crimes in Ghana,” he stated.

He further said: “I wish to congratulate the e-Crime Bureau on your 10-year celebration and achievements, and I entreat the Bureau not to relent in its efforts but continue the good work in providing the requisite support and solutions to address the many cyber security challenges being faced by organisations, to support the national agenda of securing Ghana’s digital journey”.
