The Board and Management of the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) are extremely delighted to be part of this auspicious and memorable occasion, today, Tuesday, 10th August, 2021; an occasion which signifies the positive impact that Ghana Export –Import Bank has made in its financing of viable start up projects in Ghana under the Government’s ambitious 1D1F Initiatives.
WEDDI AFRICA LIMITED was one of the viable and sustainable green project proposals that sought financing from our Bank in 2017. The assistance was to augment the equity contribution of the company to enable it complete the construction and installation of a 10-Ton per hour integrated State-of-the-Art tomato processing factory at Domfete, near JiniJini in the Berekum District of the Bono Region. The factory is set up to process tomatoes into tomato concentrates and paste under the brand name:
“Sweet Mama Tomatoes Mix” for both domestic and export markets.
We did not hesitate to support them with the requisite financial support after they had met our credit approval processes.
The purpose of the said facility i.e. GHS 27 million and a grant of 5.8 million were to augment the equity contribution of the company to enable the company complete the construction and installation of a 10 ton per hour integrated tomato-processing factory at Domfete near Jinjini in the Berekum District of the Bono Region to process tomatoes into tomato concentrates and paste under the brand name “Sweet Mama” both for the domestic and export markets.
Today, we are happy to be part of this success story of establishing this magnificent agro-processing factory in Domfete, Berekum West District of Ghana which is being commissioned by His Exceellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana.
As a development and policy Bank, this occasion signifies the importance of our role in the social, economic and industrial development of Ghana and we are well positioned to continue to play this cherished role in our industrial development of the country.
We are delighted to recognize the opportunities that WEDDI AFRICA TOMATO PROCESSING FACTORY AND AGRO FARMS has created and will be creating in terms of the numerous jobs its establishment has brought to this community, both direct and indirect employment, culminating in about 80 permanent staff which will increase to about 400 at full capacity, and providing market access to over 2000 tomato farmers within its catchment area.
It is our expectation and hope that, this State-of-the-Art agro-processing plant would be efficiently managed so as to enable it meet its obligations to its stakeholders and more importantly, play its supportive role in promoting made-in-Ghana goods.
Indeed, today is a proud moment and we are extremely delighted to be part of this history-making event as your leading and proud financing institution.
