Management of ROOTS Hotels and Apartments, in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), have marked the 10th anniversary of the facility in Accra.

The hotel, which was opened to the public in August 2011, and situated in the heart of Accra, ROOTS combines all the coziness of a private apartment with a luxury hotel living.

At a short ceremony to mark a decade of operations in Ghana, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ekow Sampson, commended the facility for contributing significantly to the development of the country’s tourism landscape.

He said, the hotel’s settings and environment, which perfectly corresponds with the ideals of the local people in Osu, the diaspora and the country at large, would remain an enormous marketing advantage to other similar facilities in the area.

Discussing potentials of local tourism’s contribution to Ghana, Mr. Sampson explained that the GTA’s domestic campaign of ‘See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana and Feel Ghana’ resonates with the vision of ROOTS, as the hotel is a typical made in Ghana facility.

Mr Sampson advised management of the hotel to continuously keep to the best industry standards in order to attract the needed clientele to the facility.

Chief Executive Officer of ROOTS Hotels & Apartments, Hussein Fakhry, said the success story of the hotel is rooted in the cultures of Ghana. He asserted that the hotel apartment, from the selection of the location, to the design, to the creation of the brand, crafting of the experience has been the difference between the hotel and other competitor facilities.

“Set along a lively commercial street, this modern apartment hotel is 2 km from the nearest beach along the Gulf of Guinea and 5 km from Kotoka International Airport. Ranging from studios to 2-bedroom apartments, the warm units offer free Wi-Fi, satellite TV and kitchenettes, as well as sitting areas; some provide separate living rooms,” he said.

He added: “a casual 7th-floor restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows and a terrace. There’s also a laid-back lobby cafe/bar and a gym and parking are available.”

Hip life artiste and media personality Reggie Rockstone and Jay Foley, who were at the event, advised young people to take pride in the promotion of tourist destinations in the country and to visit such attractions occasionally.

Notable events, outlined to mark the anniversary, include an art exhibition with wood sculptor, Frederick Matey on August 19, live band performance with Sefa on August 13, and roots live band on August 27, 2021.
