Victoria Michaels has been honoured as the International Fashion Model of the Year and Outstanding Humanitarian of the Year at this year’s Ghana Entertainment and Business Industry Awards (GEBIA).
A citation of honour said: “your humanitarian service for the vulnerable, deprived and marginalized people is unquestionable. You have distinguished yourself as a true ambassador for your generation. Your contribution towards the upliftment of the poor is adorable and well emulating.”
This is to encourage her to continue to do more in the area of support for the less privileged and to continue to put Ghana on the map so far as modelling is concerned the organizers said.
Victoria Michaels, a modelpreneur who is the Chief Executive Officer of Fashion Connect Africa through the Fashion Connect Africa garment factory with support from their partners have donated over 40,000 nose masks to residents of deprived communities in Ghana to protect them from contracting COVID-19.
She established Victoria Michaels Foundation in 2013. The foundation helps to improve the lives of underprivileged children through the Africa Literacy Development Initiative (ALDI) with focus on Education, Women/Girl child Empowerment, and Youth Development within Africa.
Victoria Michaels is a recipient of several accolades, including the Ghana Models Awards, Glitz Style Awards, City People Entertainment Awards,Africa Fashion Week London,Ovation Angel of Hope Award,Fashion Ghana Awards, Africa Fashion Week Toronto Awards just to mention a few.
In an Instagram post Victoria said: “I will always use my craft, voice and resources to create change for models, women and the girl-child. I think this is a special calling.”.
