… launches kidney-care campaign
Asaase 99.5 Radio, the Pan African-focused multimedia station, has celebrated its first anniversary with its launch of the Asaase Kidney Care Campaign, a project to educate people on kidney health and raise money to buy a Dialysis Machine.
The celebration was marked by a short ceremony at the Asaase Radio premises in Cantonments, Accra, with staff members of the station, some members of the Board of Directors and shareholders in attendance.
The event was started off with a prayer by Reverend Akua Boateng, host of the weekday-morning religious programme on Asaase Radio – The Word. This was followed by a brief remark by Naomi Nelson-Barnes, Head of Marketing, Communications, Events and Promotions at Asaase Radio, who welcomed the guests and later announced the launch of the kidney-care initiative.
Mrs. Nelson-Barnes stated: “We adopted this campaign as our project for the first anniversary because we have received reports of more and more people developing post-COVID-related kidney issues and having to be put on dialysis.
“Indeed, this project is very dear to us as one of our own, DJ ACE, has been on dialysis for the past couple of years and is currently on the waiting list for a kidney donor. It is therefore important for us to not only raise awareness but also to do our bit to help people in need of this all-important machine.”
She went on to mention that the station will be working closely with the Kidney Society of Ghana throughout the campaign, and to ensure that the machine is put to the best use once it is procured.
Elizabeth Akua Ohene, a veteran Ghanaian journalist, former Minister for Tertiary Education and a board member of Asaase Broadcasting Company Ltd., also addressed the guests.
She congratulated the team and urged staff member to always strive for excellence. “It takes a listener or advertiser only five minutes to decide whether to stay tuned in to you or move on. You must therefore make sure that you are always at your best and not be seen to be fluctuating”.
Other shareholders and members of the Board of Asaase Radio who attended the launch event include Gabby Otchere-Darko, the Board Chairman; Reginald Daniel Laryea, renowned advertising consultant; Joseph Boakye Ofori-Attah and Ebow Brew-Hammond.
The celebration will continue on Asaase Radio with on-air activations and giveaways for listeners, as well as social media activations and special discount packages and for clients. Asaase Radio 99.5 operates from Accra with affiliates all over the country, and is also streamed live on Facebook.
