WAICA Reinsurance Cooperation (Plc) – a West African sub-regional reinsurance company with its headquarters in Sierra Leone – has donated items to Ghana Insurance College as part of its 10th anniversary celebration.

The donation is WAICA Re’s fulfilment of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR). The donated items include: the installation of four air-conditioners and fixing of window-blinds, in addition to a laptop, desktop computers and a printer.

Presenting the items, Edward Duamroh, Country Director of WAICA Re-Ghana said: “We also promise to provide the library with insurance textbooks, which we intend to supply later.

“WAICA Re as a brand believes in professionalism, and we are aligning with the insurance college to help train insurance professionals for the industry.”

Duamroh is hopeful that the items will go a long way to raise the college’s capacity. Receiving the items on behalf of GIC, Richard Otchere expressed appreciation to WAICA Re for its kind gesture and prayed for the college’s success. He assured the donors that the items will be used for the students’ benefit.

WAICA Re was incorporated as a public limited liability company under the Laws of Sierra Leone (Companies Act 209) on March 7, 2011 by the West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) and an association of insurance companies operating in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia and The Gambia that was formed in 1973.

Its ideology is to fill the reinsurance gap in the West African sub-region and support the sub-regional socio-economic integration efforts by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
