AirtelTigo inaugurates  six-unit classroom block under ‘Yen Nkosuo Nti’ initiative

Telecom operator, AirtelTigo, has inaugurated  a fully furnished six-unit classroom block with a headteacher’s office for the Kotokuom R/C Primary School in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti region.

The facility replaces a dilapidated structure that houses over 200 pupils.

Commercial Head of AirtelTigo, Mr. Kwame Osafo Amoah, emphasized the purpose of building the classroom block for the primary school. “The building forms part of AirtelTigo’s ‘Y3n Nkosuo Nti’ project. It is to improve the lives of children in communities through education & enhance public schools in disadvantaged communities. Kotokuom R/C Primary School was picked as beneficiary based on legitimate needs,” he said.

He added that the gesture is to additionally contribute to effective efforts of the Nation’s fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

The District Director of Education, Mrs. Juliana Cudjoe, in her address, lamented the lack of educational infrastructure in the area, inhibiting the smooth running of schools in the district. “Atwima Mponua is in dire need of libraries, sports equipment, classroom furniture, toilet & ICT rooms to boost education,” she posited. She urged the government to provide more classrooms blocks for other schools in the district, especially in this COVID-19 era to ensure proper adherence to safety protocols.

William Darko, DCE and alumni of the school, commended AirtelTigo for the initiative, and pledged his support by providing a modernized kindergarten block & computer Lab with 5 new computers for the school.

On his part, Headteacher of Kotokuom R/C Primary School, Ibrahim Mujahid, appreciated AirtelTigo for choosing the school as a beneficiary of the “Y3n Nkosuo Nti project”. He was optimistic that the new facility will help increase enrolment.

AirtelTigo also donated COVID-19 preventive materials to support the fight against the disease.

Dignitaries present at the occasion were Chief of Agogo, Odikuoro of Kotokuom, Williams Darko -District Chief Executive; Mrs Juliana Cudjoe – District Director of Education, and from Airtel Tigo, Prince Acheampong – Chief Finance officer, and Kwame osafo Amoah – Regional Commercial Head.
