As evidence of position as a leading automobile distributors and one that is attentive to the feedback of its customers, Silver Star Auto Limited (SSAL) – official outlet of Peugeot vehicles in the country – has introduced three new models across various segments.

The models include the headlining Landtrek KP1 pick-up truck; the 508 fastback saloon as well as the 3008 crossover Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Speaking at the official launch of the vehicles, Chief Executive Officer at SSAL, Asad Nazir stated that the introduction the new models to the market was in response to the positive reception that Peugeot has received in the one year since it opened its new showroom; which happened in spite of the obvious constraints brought about by the pandemic.

Still stressing on what he described as ‘an overwhelmingly favourable response’ to the Peugeot brand, hinted that his outfit, in consultation with key stakeholders, is assiduously working towards assembling vehicles locally.

“We want to get behind the government’s laudable policy of the auto-assembling project, we are definitely talking about it and in the very near future, and we will be making a very important announcement soon. The day when we will have a Peugeot car assembled in Ghana is not too far away,” he said.

Landtrek KP1

The headlining model represents a rebirth of the Peugeot pick-up. Described as embodying the DNA of legendary models such as the 404 wagon and the 504 Pick-up truck, the Landtrek KP1 is suited to professional and personal usage.

It comes in 2-door regular cab, 4-door (extended cab) and 4-door crew cab variants. Equipped with six airbags, the Landtrek also features Hill Descent Control, a system that keeps the vehicle at a very low speed and allows the driver to concentrate solely on steering, providing control and safety in anxiety-inducing situations.

Coming in with 1.9 L and 2.4 L diesel and petrol engines respectively, it is also equipped ASR (enhanced traction) for 4×2 and 4×4 versions and Trailer Swing Control (towing assistance system) with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) that acts automatically as soon as the trailer swings.

Other features include LED headlights and taillights, automatic dual-zone climate control, trailer swing control, 360-degree camera system with up to four cameras, an off-road camera built into the rearview mirror on the passenger side.

508

Evoking nostalgia from when the 504 ruled the roost, the 508 fastback saloon features a 1.6L Turbocharged petrol engine, which generates 220 Hp, 6 speed levels and three drive modes – Normal, Eco and Sport.

Other features include power-folding door mirrors with blind spot detection indicators, a sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger and up to 1,537 liters in boot capacity when the rear seats are collapsed.

3008

Combining the best of both worlds, the sturdiness of an SUV and the compactness of a saloon, without sacrificing the strengths of either, the Crossover comes in a 1.2L Petrol and 1.5L Diesel variant. Features include 12V Sockets in dashboard, 3x Isofix child seat fittings in the front passenger and outer rear seats; Eco LED headlights among others.

Addressing concerns over automobile financing, Khan said that innovative solutions such as the in-house, one-year financing policy, which – launched after the advent of COVID-19 and allows customers to make a down payment of 30% of the value of a vehicle and spread the outstanding over the course of 12 months – will apply to these models as well.
