BETWAY, Ghana’s leading online sports betting platform, has introduced a banking payment system that allows customers to make and receive payments through their banks as an alternative to the already existing mobile money payment system.

Being the first of its kind, the interoperability system is to aid customers have a more flexible approach to responsible betting and contribute to Ghana’s digitization and cash lite agenda.

Previously, customers were limited to making payments via mobile money transfers only. This became challenging for patrons who had their cash sitting in their banks and had to transfer the monies to their mobile money platforms first before transacting.

The introduction of this additional banking feature is also to affirm Betway’s primary objective of putting the customer first by introducing systems that appreciate customers for their loyalty to the platform.

In an interview with Magnus Rex Danquah Jnr, Country Manager – Operations, he explained that Betway is integrated with the banks which allows customers to also withdraw funds into their bank accounts by depositing via the Betway platform using their VISA, MasterCard or other payment processors.

He said, “Betway is the forerunner in this game because of the ease of using our platform and we offer pour players privacy and convenience. We have a higher competitive advantage with our secure mobile money payments and our recent addition of the bank payment system. We have also made it possible for our customers to bet wherever they find ourselves instead of visiting our retail outlets. Additionally, We are the pacesetters for the online payments because we have never taken cash. We are influencing the industry with our online system.”

Mr. Danquah revealed that customers can withdraw up to GHC1 million unlike the mobile money that caps highest withdrawals per day at GHC2,000. He advised customers to make a card deposit with Betway for the GHC1 million withdrawal offer.

As the leading online betting and gaming company in Ghana, operating across a number of regulated markets around the world, Mr. Danquah assured that the platform is highly secured and safe for transactions.

“Our sites are extremely secured because of the constant updates to fend off hackers.  So we are also on high alert and that’s one of the reasons why we are working with the Telcos. Our platform has a one way in and one way out approach which means customers are not permitted to deposit from one account and withdraw from a different account. It is one of the ways that we control the system. Before we get a customer, we take their national ID cards so if you are under age, we can tell and if you try something fishy, we can track you”, said Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah

He emphasized that the company is keen on promoting safe gambling, as all customers can access comprehensive information about how to gamble responsibly and where to obtain appropriate help for gambling related problems. “We have a suite of safer gambling tools – reality check, deposit limit, take-a-break, self-exclusion and more – to help all customers who wish to control their play”.
