Samsung Mobile has taken the wraps off a range of new flagship devices at its Unpacked 2021 event. The event, which was hosted virtually, saw the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Buds Pro True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds, as well as the Galaxy SmartTag Bluetooth tracker officially demonstrated.

In the build-up to the launch, Managing Director of Samsung Ghana, Lucas Lee, gave assurance of the company’s commitment to providing cutting-edge technology at aggressive prices.

S21 Range

The S21 series features an updated design language, most notably with the camera unit. The base model, the S20, comes with a 6.2-inch screen, with 128GB and 256GB storage options, and a 64MP, 12MP, 12MP triple-camera set-up. The S21+ is decked with a 6.7-inch screen and the same memory storage options as the S21.

The top of the range S21 Ultra comes with an impressive 6.8-inch display, 108MP main camera with a 100x super resolution zoom (Space Zoom), ensuring objects can be zoomed-in without loss of much detail. It also features a 5,000mAh battery capacity and support for Samsung’s S-Pen, which launches in standard and Pro variants.

All three devices come with Dynamic AMOLED displays, up to 120Hz refresh rate and are future-proof with 5G.

SmartTag

The Bluetooth-enabled tracker is aimed at eliminating incidents of missing essential items. The tile-shaped tracker helps locate missing items which it has been attached to; it can be clipped to items ranging from a bunch of keys to wallets and purses, backpacks or even a pet’s leash.

It pairs with Samsung’s SmartThings app, and you can then check out the tag’s last location and play a sound to help you locate it in tight spaces. The trackers have a range of 120m. The tracker comes in two variants; the SmartTag and the SmartTag Plus.

Buds Pro

The Galaxy Buds Pro True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds build upon the success of the original Galaxy Buds by offering subtle, yet important, refinements like Intelligent Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Spatial Audio support.

The Buds Pro packs a two-way speaker in each unit, consisting of an 11mm woofer and a 6.5mm tweeter, with each earbud also including three separate microphones. Featuring 61mAh batteries in each earbud, the Buds Pro promises an excess of 5-hours run time.

Availability

Head of Marketing at Samsung Ghana, Tracy Kyei, stated that the Unpacked event was held earlier than it traditionally is – in February – in a bid to bring the latest and greatest the company has to offer sooner to consumers, at a time when technology, particularly mobile devices, have become indispensable for day-to-day activities.

She added that the S21 series will be available for pre-order beginning January 22, with a combination of bundles to make them even more worthwhile.
