Waste Management expert, Zoomlion Ghana Limited Regional Manager for Ahafo Region, Mr Edward Ziddah has assured parents that, the chemicals used for the mass disinfection exercise in schools is not harmful and dangerous to the wellbeing of their wards.
According to him, all chemicals used by the waste expert, Zoomlion Ghana Limited in the mass disinfection exercise would not cause any health implication and challenges to students when schools’ re-opens on the various said dates as directed by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“Chemicals used for the exercise is one litre of chlorine to ten litres of water mixed up for the disinfection of these schools and tertiary insitutions,” he stated.
Mr Ziddah made these statement in an interview with the media during the mass disinfection and fumigation exercise in the region.
“Chemicals we are using for the exercise is not harmful to mankind and the environment so parents should not be worried and disturbed of the health of their wards as they go back to school,” he assured.
Adding that, the exercise would be a continuous routine to combat the Covid-19 as well ensure all schools, social places and markets are safe.
In all 692 basic, 31 Senior High School and one tertiary institution.
Meanwhile, the Asunafo Municipal Education Director, Madam Magrate Buobu revealed that, the Directorate would be embarking on a ‘Back to School’ campaign to sensitize parents on the importance of allowing their wards to go back to school when school reopens.
Indicating that, 50 communities in the Asunafo Municipal Assembly would be engaged as a way to ensure wards return back to schools in the midst of the pandemic, Coronavirus.
She also stated that, an orientation would be organised for all heads and teaching and supporting staff with regards to the fight against Covid-19, as well measures put in place to protect wards when school reopens in January,2021.
On infrastructure, she pointed out that, the Directorate is in talks with all basic, senior high schools to utilise all available classrooms to practice social distancing during learning hours.
Madam Magrete Buobu used the occasion to appeal to all parents to allow their wards to come to school when school re-opens as well continue to ensure their wards practice and adhere to all safety protocols laid down by the government and authorities of their respective institutions.
