It was another opportunity to deepen measures aimed at saving the lives of children with congenital heart diseases and transform the circumstances of underprivileged persons through the benevolence of the Children’s Heart Foundation Ghana (CHF Ghana), its sponsors and partners as the maiden its Garden Bazaar was held.

The Garden Bazaar, brings together garden enthusiasts and provides an opportunity for individuals to purchase uniquely-themed Christmas Gifts – exotic plants, gardening tools and accessories, among others, with part of the proceeds going toward humanitarian endeavors.

CHF Ghana is a charitable organisation committed to providing financial assistance to approximately two hundred families with children diagnosed with a congenital heart disorder.

Over the past eleven years, the foundation with support from its generous sponsors has raised over GH¢3.7 million to pay for the surgeries of 209 children of up to 16 years of age. Currently, there are 53 more children on the waiting list.

CHF Ghana is managed by a team of Trustees namely – Mrs. Jacqui Ahomka-Lindsay, Mrs. Karen Hendrickson, Mrs. Surama King, Mrs. Grace Krobo Edusei, Ms. Folake Ojo and Ms. Dzigbordi Kwaku-Dosoo, who are supported by many wonderful teams of volunteers.

Annually, the Foundation organises events such as balls and health walks and this year’s Garden Bazaar which brought together its very wide and highly varied Corporate Sponsor community, their families, clients’ stakeholders, and a hard working team of volunteers.

According to Madam Jacqueline Ahomka-Lindsay, President for the Foundation, “2020 has been a redefining year due to the COVID -19 pandemic and CHF was unable to organize its usual flagship themed event. However, there are so many Ghanaian children on the waiting list, in dire need of an average of GH¢46,000 or USD$8000 for their open-heart surgery. So it was important that in addition to personal outreach, the foundation had to focus on other fundraising efforts.”

She expressed the Foundation’s excitement at introducing the maiden edition of The Garden Bazaar assuring that, “We are committed to providing financial assistance and COVID-19 has made it more important for us to work harder to save their lives and we need to find other means of raising more funds”.

On behalf of the trustees, Madam Ahomka-Lindsay expressed immense gratitude to existing sponsors who have continually supported them over the years. She also thanked the new sponsors and called on other organsations and the general public to come on board to contribute towards this worthy cause.

She called on families who are suffering to raise funds to cater for their children suffering from congenital heart disease to send an email via [email protected] or call +233 505-522-488 l +233 241-059-446 or visit www.childrensheartfoundationghana.org.  Interested persons can contribute via short code*725# – Till No. 705908
