Initiating a social network amid a COVID pandemic may appear insensitive, but for the people in Ada State it is a way to own and bring economic development to an area that has not received much governmental support for many years.
On November 7, 2020, Ada Development Network (ADN) will officially be launched in a move that sponsors of the Network believe will help to reshape the conversation and implementation of development projects at the community level.
The programme, which will take place at the Tsarlekope Beach Resort, is on the theme ‘Unveilling the future of Ada; Rethink approaches and refocus strategies for community development’.
ADN, a registered organisation, has taken years of planning and consulting to initiate, and its official launch is expected to help it better coordinate the activities of all fragmentated groups and development projects within the enclave of Ada state.
“ADN seeks among many things to unite all fragmented groups of Ada for development; build the needed structures, sustainable projects and programmes; create access to needed resources, relevant information to polish ideas, build businesses and accelerate growth of the Ada area.
“Our passion stems from the eradication of poverty and promoting economic growth through immense development of the private sector ecosystem.”
Toward this end, ADN has put together a team of committed advisors, partners, affiliates, associates and service providers who will be tasked to better-position the Network within development circles and meet the growing needs of Ada’s people.
For a start, the Network envisages raising GH¢50,000 needed to build a mobile library project in response to the COVID-19 and to help the people of Ada and its surrounding communities beyond the pandemic.
Born out of passion to cultivate a reading habit for all students in the Ada state, the Ada Mobile Library seeks among many other things to provide learning aids, reach deprived areas, stimulate reading interest and passion, unearth leaders, and improve the standard of learning.
As part of activities to celebrate the Network’s launch, the Ada-Foah Clinic will also be adopted and given a face-lift via painting, while a massive beach-cleaning exercise will be done to safeguard conditions for nursing turtles.
The launch will also be used to honour excellence of natives and national change-agents across various industries. There will be 10 inductees into the Ada Hall of Fame – Class of 2020; 10 Ada Special Honours to national change-agents; and 10 Special Gems Honours for Inspiring Women Leaders.
