Nyaho supports Ayawaso West Health Directorate with a brand new vehicle

Nyaho Medical Centre, an indigenous leading private health provider, has donated a brand new VW Polo Seden vehicle to the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly specifically the health directorate to facilitate movement and help in the fight against COVID-19.

According to the Nyaho, one of the first private hospitals to have a dedicated PCR lab and a ward for coronavirus testing and treatment in the country during the outbreak, indicated that it realised challenges during its collaborative work with the health district to collect samples for COVID-19 testing and treatment.

Managing Director, Nyaho Medical Centre, Dr. Elikem Tamaklo, in a short presentation ceremony and a tour of the PCR Lab, emphasised that the success of the efficient management of COVID-19 at the centre is as a result of effective public-private partnership with the Ayawaso West Municipality and the hospital remains committed to demonstrate benefits of such partnerships in the future.

Director General, Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Nyaho for the kind gesture and tasked the district to use the vehicle for its intended purpose which is to aid health service delivery in their catchment area.

“As we are all aware, the COVID-19 response started at all government activity and now we are happy how the private sector came in strongly to help. I personally visited the Ayawaso Health Directorate when the coronavirus first came in and I realised the challenges they had in terms of facilities among other things and I am very happy that they collaborated very well with Nyaho to handle the situation efficiently,” he said.

Health Service Director of the Ayawaso West Municipality, Dr. Louisa Ademki Martey, said: “we appreciate and cherish this gesture immensely and I know that this marks the beginning of greater collaborations between private and public sector within our municipality and I encourage other well-meaning organisations to emulate this laudable gesture.”
