The MTN-Foundation has handed over a 6-unit classroom block to the chiefs and people of Nhyiaeso, a town in the Asante Akyem North district.

The project, constructed at a cost of GH¢500,000 with furnishings, will replace a dilapidated structure that housed over 400 pupils at the Nhyiaeso District Assembly Basic school.

Speaking before the official unveilling ceremony, Corporate Services Executive Mr. Sam Koranteng reinforced the commitment of MTN to continue with investments in its three-prong priority areas – education, health-care and economic empowerment activities. These three key areas, he maintained, undoubtedly help in transforming lives of people.

“MTN is committed to carrying out investments in the three areas of human development; that is education, health care and economic empowerment – and it is in this wise that we committed funds to replacing the dilapidated structure in this community,” Mr. Koranteng noted.

Madam Mildred Ama Kwakye Agyapong, District Director of Education for Asante Akyem North, commended MTN Foundation for carrying out such a massive project in the Nhyiaeso community.

She noted that the staff and pupils will now have a congenial atmosphere to carry out teaching and learning.

The Director tasked the headmaster to ensure the facility is put to the intended use while maintaining it for future generations.

Nana Brantuo Asadu, Agogo-manhene Oguakro Nkonwahene, conveyed the appreciation of chiefs and people of Nhyiaeso to MTN.

He announced that the Chief of Mponua, a community within the district, has decided to provide 100 acres of land free of charge for MTN to commence any project of their choice on same.

Nana Kwasi Wusu, Chief of Nhyiaeso, praised MTN, multimedia and all persons who played a part in helping the town to get such a modern facility for teaching and learning in the town.

Taking turns to commend MTN Foundation for the project, Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi and Francis Oti-Boateng, MP for Asante Akyem North Constituency and District Chief Executive respectively, said they were honoured by the massive project.

They charged school authorities to ensure teaching and learning improve in the school, since they now have a proper environment to carry out same.
