Activa International Insurance Company Ghana Limited (AIIG) has signed a partnership agreement with Makola Foundation as part of its Activ’Lady programme, which empowers female entrepreneurs in Ghana through innovative solutions to help them better-manage their financial risks and business assets.

The Activ’Lady programme, launched in October 2019 in partnership with the IFC – a member of the World Bank Group, is the first of its kind in Ghana. During the event, AIIG unveilled the Activ’Lady Business Protect, which insures female entrepreneurs’ businesses; and the Activ’Lady Advisor that creates employment for women in insurance sales.

In 2020, AIIG launched a third insurance product, the Activ’Lady Business Boom. It provides a holistic solution for market traders who are usually exposed to numerous daily risks, and lack access to information and skill-building among others. The Business Boom solutions offer members of Makola Foundation the platform they need to grow their businesses.

At the MoU-signing ceremony, Belinda Ofori – head of the Activ’Lady Programme, reiterated AIIG’s commitment to supporting female entrepreneurs grow their businesses from subsistence level to small- and medium-sized enterprises.

“The Activ’Lady Programme provides female entrepreneurs with visibility, skill-training and networking platforms, as well as risk-management and social intervention solutions,” she said. “And at AIIG, we believe that when there are equal opportunities for all, it contributes to the development of families, communities and nations. It is for this reason we are excited to be partnering with Makola Foundation to champion this initiative.”

Makola Foundation/Institute Co-founder and President, Comfort Oduro-Nyarko, commended AIIG.

“The vision of Activ’Lady reinforces the vision of Makola Foundation to develop strategic partnerships which create an innovative and more inclusive environment for businesses to thrive,” Mrs. Oduro-Nyarko said.

The Activ’Lady programme, as part of the signing ceremony, donated some nose-masks to the foundation as part of efforts to combat the COVID 19 pandemic in Ghana.

AIIG is the 7th-largest general insurance company by premium income, and also founder of the Globus Network – a grouping of over 48 well-positioned and dynamic insurance companies in 48 African countries which allow multinational, global and local clients to enjoy expert and world-class insurance services.
