Zoomlion disinfects Northern Command of GAF against COVID-19

The Northern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces has been disinfected against the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease by Zoomlion Ghana.

The exercise which would also take place in the military barracks across the region forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility is to ensure the safety of the security personnel, officers and the civilians working within the sector.

Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, who was at the ceremony commended the company for the initiative to support the fight against COVID-19.

According to the Minister, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, since the outbreak of the disease, has taken productive and resilient measures by mobilizing the nation’s health professionals and also collaborated with the private sector to help reduce the negative effect of the pandemic.

That notwithstanding, the exercise, being held across the country, would help to mitigate the stress institutions might have gone through in the fight against the pandemic he said.

Col. Edward Awariba, Command Logistics Officer at the Northern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) expressed gratitude to Zoomlion for the fumigation exercise in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

“As part of the outbreak of the pandemic, we need to put measures in place so that the disease does not affect not only the military personnel but Ghanaians as a whole. As soldiers, we are ready to defend the country but advice to everybody is to take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously and put in the needed measures to prevent the contracting and spread of the disease,” he said.

Northern Regional Manager of the Savannah Waste Management Services Limited (SWMSL), a subsidiary of Zoomlion Ghana Limited in the Northern Region, Peter Dawuni said the company is committed towards ensuring safety and sanity in the country hence the programme to disinfect the markets, schools and other institutions that hubs citizens.

According to him, the fight against COVID-19 is a collective and integrated responsibility for all. “Everybody must take keen interest in the fight because the virus fears no one and so at our individual levels we must take up the challenge to fight it.”
