He commended the institute for working around the clock to ensure that Ghana stays ahead in the COVID fight.

“When the country recorded its first case early in March, many of us were consumed with uncertainty not knowing whether our healthcare institutions and research facilities would have the capacity to deal with the virus but three months down the line, we have all been witnesses to what the Noguchi Institute has become a source of Ghanaian pride amid a global crisis and for this we as a people and a nation would be forever grateful,” he said.

According to Mr. Koranteng, immediately COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic, MTN Ghana moved swiftly to put in place measures to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana. Key among the measures include the positioning of alcohol base sanitizers at vantage points across branches and experience centers for use by customers and employees and the deployment and the use of guns and Personal protective equipment.”

Receiving the items, Director for the Noguchi Institute, Professor Abraham Anang expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for responding swiftly to their request of providing the equipment.

“It is our greatest pleasure to have you donate these items to us. In these days when we’re beginning to pull together the world to be able to effectively respond to COVID 19, it is important that we are able to bring together our energies and potential to Ghana.  The institute feels very honored to have one of the most significant health partners as far as business and information is concerned. Surely you are most welcome.”
