Dagbon Forum (DF), a Non-profit Youth Development Association of the Dagbon ethnic group, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Tamale Central Hospital, two other municipal and nine district hospitals in the Northern Region.
The Association has also donated to the Gbewaa Palace, the Mion-Lana and Yoo-Naa Palaces, all in the Northern Region.
The items donated includes 50 (100ltr) and 50 (80ltr) Veronica buckets, 50 gallons of liquid soap, 100 (200ml) pieces of hand sanitizers and 120 (medium) pieces of tissue rolls. These items were bought from individual contributions by members of the association.
Alhaji Sintaro Mahama, the National Vice-President of DF, Presenting the items emphasized that the donation was the associations response to compliment the government’s efforts to contain and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the area and the nation at large.
He further indicated that the donation was also a deep concern felt by DF members about the good health of the people of Dagbon in this very trying times.
In addition, Alhaji Mahama called on all sections of society to work diligently towards preventing the spread of the virus as it posed a threat to all aspects of life. Urging natives of Dagbon to continue to observe the social distancing protocols, adhere to the safety measures of hand washing under running water, wearing of nose mask, and the regular use of hand sanitizers to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
I will also like to use this opportunity to call on government, traditional rulers, bilateral organisations, civil society groups, and local communities to work together towards addressing the severe negative economic and social impact of COVID-19 across the region and the nation at large, he said.
Administrator of the Tamale Central Hospital, Abdullah Fatawu, receiving the items on behalf of the two hospitals said: The items has come at the right time and will go a long way to help our operations, because the hospital still needs more of such PPE to be able to deliver efficient service.
He said the hospitals major challenge has been PPE and that the items will be used for their intended purposes.
Mr. Fatawu noted that attendance at the Tamale Central Hospital has reduced due to the COVID-19.
Dagbon Forum was registered as a non-profit organization to promote development and sustain peace in Dagbon land.
