Republic Bank Ghana, a subsidiary of Republic Financial Holdings Limited, has made a GH¢200,000 donation towards the construction of a 100-bed COVID-19 Infectious Disease Isolation and Treatment Centre as part of its support to several medical facilities spread across the country.

The COVID-19 Infectious Disease Isolation and Treatment Centre located at the Ga East Municipal Hospital, Kwabenya, is being funded through the Ghana COVID-19 Private Sector Fund.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director of Republic Bank Ghana, Mr. Farid Antar, lauded the Initiators and Trustees of the Ghana COVID-19 Private Sector Fund for the great initiative and work done so far. “If we had known about the existence of this fund earlier, maybe we could have allocated more to this project out of the GH¢1.1million budget we had toward the COVID-19 intervention in Ghana,” the Managing Director added.

Speaking on behalf of the Ghana COVID-19 Private Sector Fund, Dr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi – Chairman of the Trustees, thanked Republic Bank for the kind gesture. “I believe the Ghanaian Public appreciates what you do for society apart from banking; through your person to person relationships and your involvement in important events in this country, we see the role of Republic Bank in the everyday life of our nation and we are grateful,” Dr. Oteng-Gyasi added. Mr. Edward Effah, Mr. Senyo Hosi and Mr. Kwaku Bediako – all Trustees of the Fund, took their turns to appreciate Republic Bank for the kind gesture.

In March this year, Republic Financial Holdings Limited announced as part of its Power to Make a difference initiative a US$2million contribution toward the fight against COVID-19 across 13 territories in which the bank operates. GH¢1.1million was allocated to assist the fight in Ghana.
