In an attempt to support the fight against novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, the Eusbett Group of Companies in Sunyani has donated assorted items to the Ghana Prisons Service in Sunyani and Sunyani Divisional Police Station.
The items, estimated at over GH¢20,000, among others are expected to help the two security agencies manage inmates to observe the necessary precautionary protocols needed to stem the spread of the virus at both places.
The donated items included a 10,000-litre storage tank for the Prisons, a submersible pump to mechanise the Prisons borehole, water closets, Veronica buckets, boxes of soap, boxes of hand-sanitisers, washing liquid soaps, bottles of Dettol, nose masks, hand towels, pieces of paper tissue, boxes of bottled water and 100 bags of sachet water.
Presenting the items, Sir Sam Bennett, Managing Director of Eusbett Group of Companies, advised the inmates to do their best and adhere to the precautionary measures to keep them safe from COVID-19. He urged them to be resolute and have faith in their maker in this difficult time, adding: “Some of us are committed to help integrate you back into society after your stay here. We will create job opportunities to absorb some of you to revive your lives.”
On his side, the General Manager of Eusbett Hotel – a subsidiary of Eusbett Group, Robert Mensah, said the items were selected based on a needs assessment conducted by the officers. “We wanted to support with items that would have real impacts on the lives of inmates within this challenging period of our time. I pray others will also support the fight against COVID-19 through diverse means.”
A Prisons officer who received the donation, DDP Reuben Kwesi Asamoah Fenning, said the items are very handy for the upkeep of inmates, and thanked the donors for their sincere gesture.
