Air France is to start a daily service between Accra and its hub at Paris-Charles de Gaulle, France, with stops in Lomé and Ouagadougou starting on March 25, 2018.
This strategic decision is designed to offer the travelling public more travelling options between Accra and Paris, with onward connections to hundreds of destinations in Europe, Asia and North America among others.
The airline, a subsidiary of the Air France–KLM Group and a founding member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, will operate the Accra-Ouagadougou-Paris flights on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
It will also operate the Paris-Ouagadougou-Accra-Paris flights on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The Lomé-Accra-Paris and Paris-Accra-Lomé flights will be operated on Thursdays and Saturdays.
The increase in frequency comes within a year of the airline’s operations in the country. The airline, within a year of operations, now commands 3.2 percent of the outbound European traffic.
Country Manager of the Air France-KLM, Dick van Nieuwenhuyzen, said the decision to start a daily service with stops in Lomé and Ouagadougou is one that is expected to lead to the growth in the market share of the airline and a strategic move given the security situation in neighbouring states.
Air France’s hub at Paris-Charles de Gaulle, in the heart of Europe, is a genuine gateway to the rest of the world from Africa. About 6,500 Air France staff work at the facility, serving about 100,000 passengers every day and 25,000 weekly connecting passengers.
