The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that, Ecobank Ghana Limited has agreed to employ all 3000 youth to be trained under the digital jobs for the youth program by the National Youth Authority(NYA).
Delivering his second State of the Nation Address (SoNA) in Parliament on Thursday, 8 February, President Akufo-Addo said: “Ecobank Ghana Limited has agreed to engage the first 3000 youth to be trained under the digital jobs for the youth.”
This according to the President is one sure step to indicate his government’s commitment to ending the high unemployment rate while creating sustainable jobs to the unemployed youth which is becoming a national security threat.
The National Youth Authority(NYA) training program set to provide 3,000 digital jobs for the youth was launched today Thursday 8, 2017 to provide a 12-weeks online digital marketing and entrepreneurship training spread across all 10 regions.
According to the NYA, the first set of youth to be trained will be drawn from all ten regions of the country with each region having an average slot of 300 youths aged between 18 and 35 years with a basic appreciation of internet and social media.
The CEO of the Accra Digital Center Eric Ofosu Nkansah in an earlier interview, highlighted the importance of the training by pointing out that ‘data is the new gold’.
He said great opportunities exist in data mining and encouraged the youth with a flair for technology and social media to explore such opportunities.
