GHL Bank signs up with Western Union

GHL Bank, formerly Ghana Home Loans, has signed up with Western Union to offer money transfer services – joining a global network of Western Union partners to provide a fast, reliable, secure and convenient way of remitting funds within the country as well as inbound transfers.

The Executive Director of Business at GHL Bank, Mr. Kojo Addo-Kufuor, stated in a statement issued to the GNA that Western Union offers one of the easiest ways by which family and friends can send and receive money and stay connected to their loved ones.

“With over 437,000 Agent locations worldwide, Western Union is definitely one of the institutions to partner in creating the platform to conveniently serve our clients.”

He noted that with a robust banking system, GHL Bank will expand its frontiers to enable as many partners as possible to drive the bank’s focus for digital and convenient banking in Ghana.

“Our reliable technology customer-centric platform and excellent customer service, ensures fast and efficient receipt of funds from abroad. The good thing about this is that you don’t need a bank account to receive money from anywhere in Ghana,” Mr. Addo-Kufuor said.

This remittance service also provides non-resident clients of GHL with a convenient channel to service their mortgage facilities on a monthly basis.  GHL is a one-stop bank focused on the real estate sector and home ownership.

The company evolved from Ghana Home Loans, the largest home financing institution in Ghana, into a universal bank in December 2017.  Ghana Home Loans disbursed mortgages of about US$200million through its financing products, which include Home Purchase Mortgages, Home Equity Mortgages, Home Completion Mortgages and Home Construction Mortgages.

In addition to these mortgage products, the bank offers smart innovations and experience for personal, private and business banking for payments, insurance, money transfer, current accounts and savings accounts.

GHL Bank is majority-owned by the Abraaj Group, a global private equity institution with over US$10billion of assets under management.
