“We are pleased to be able to partner NBS to save lives. Loyalty Insurance exists not to only make profit but also to find ways to give back to our cherished clients and the society as a whole. Hence, a portion of the insurance premiums received by Loyalty Insurance would be used to support the National Blood Service,” he said.

Mr. Ababio also indicated that the initiative is in line with the company’s mission of making insurance a primary and attractive need for all, while positioning the company as a great service to the society in which it operates.

He took the opportunity to appeal to individuals and corporate entities to take an insurance policy with the company, bearing in mind that a portion of premiums paid will be in support of the NBS.

A GH₵10,000 cheque was also presented to the blood service, as seed money for the joint initiative, towards the support of a sustainable way of collecting blood to save lives.

Dr. Justina K. Ansah, Chief Executive Officer of the National Blood Service expressed gratitude to management of the insurance company for partnering her outfit. She emphasised that the present blood supply system in the country relies heavily on family replacement donation which is not sustainable.

She noted therefore, that the partnership will improve the national blood supply system by complimenting government’s efforts to provide safe and adequate blood for patient who require blood transfusion across the country.

“We consider this partnership as strategic to the attainment of the national objective of establishing a blood supply system that depends on 100 percent voluntary donations by the year 2020,” Dr. Ansah said.
