The Ghana-India Trade Advisory Chamber (GITAC), established to promote trade, investment and cultural interactions between Ghana and India, has launched its Western Regional Chapter in Takoradi.
The event, which took place at the Atlantic Hotel, drew many from as far as Accra, Central, Western North and the Western regions, to network and build relationships with GITAC members to propel their business growth.
The ceremony was graced by prestigious dignitaries across sectors of the economy, namely; Sugandh Rajaram- Indian High Commissioner to Ghan; Carlos Ahenkorah- Former Deputy Minister of Trade; Abraham Dwuma Odoom- MP, Twifo Atti Morkwa; Dr. Kobby Okyere Darko- Western Regional Minister; Anne-Rita Solano- Executive Director CCI France (French Chamber); and Nana Adwoa Eduafowa II Queen mother Gomoa Dago, among other chiefs.
Mr. Rajaram, Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, commended the Chamber for expanding its network in the country to the Oil City in order to increase India-Ghana partnership and trade in the oil & gas sector.
GITAC was established some two years ago and currently has representation in 15 countries globally as part of its mission to create pathways and networks for bilateral trade between Ghana and India.
President of GITAC, Dominic Oduro-Antwi, noted that as a chamber they can only work smarter and harder to achieve the growth and progress which surpasses the norm while encouraging others to emulate their exemplar advisory chamber.
Recounting some initiatives of the Chamber in the year, Mr. Oduro-Antwi, mentioned the GITAC-ROC partnership agreement which allows the chamber to serve as a liaison, as well as grant non-members access to the special package available for Economic Citizenship in Canada at a more affordable rate with a flexible payment plan.
Secondly, he stressed on a partnership with Chamber of Agribusiness on 20th August 2020, to improve and increase bilateral cooperation in agribusiness between Ghana and India.
“Another phenomenon members can anticipate pending its launch in the coming months is the GITAC Loyalty Advantage Card. With this, chamber members and organizations, will have the exclusive opportunity to join a specially curated list of service providers who will be able to provide services and other product offerings to all loyalty cardholders at a discounted rate thereby attracting the larger Indo-Ghanaian market and a natural expansion of the organization’s customer base,” he said.
The Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kobby Okyere Darko, expressed his profound gratitude to the India High Commissioner to Ghana and GITAC for considering the Western Region fit for partnership and indicated that the presence of the Chamber in the region will boost trade volumes between Ghana and India as well as promote growth in the local economy especially in the oil and gas sector as indigenes can partner with the Indians for capital injection into their business.
