MTN donates 3,000 face masks to Ridge Hospital

MTN Ghana Foundation has donated 3,000 KN95 face masks to the Greater Accra Regional hospital, also known as  Ridge hospital, to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Mr. Samuel Koranteng, the donation also forms part of the foundation’s recently launched campaign “Wear It For Me”, to encourage the wearing of face masks.

So far, the foundation has donated 88,000 face masks to health workers in 30 hospitals across the16 regions of Ghana.

Mr. Koranteng revealed that MTN Ghana has so far invested GHC5 million worth of PPE to health and frontline workers across the country since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

He assured that MTN is committed to helping government win the fight against COVID-19.

 “We believe that we have a major role to play in the fight against COVID-19 right from the onset and this continues to be paramount to us”, he said.

He encouraged all Ghanaians to adhere strictly to all the safety protocols issued by local and global authorities in fighting this pandemic.

Receiving the items, Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr. Emmanuel K. Srofenyoh expressed appreciation to MTN for the donation.

He revealed that the KN95 face mask had been in shortage and therefore the donation is timely.

He said the face masks will go a long way to fulfill it’s purpose of supporting frontline workers in the discharge of their duties.

He added that: “This donation will save us cost so we are indeed grateful to MTN foundation for this gesture”.
