New Think-Tank: Paa Grant-Krakue-Asmah International Governance Center launched

Paa Grant-Krakue-Asmah International Governance Center has been launched at Mpohor District in the Western Region to deepen knowledge, advocate for developmental, train the youth and help better the economy of the area among others.

The center, named after some of the founding members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western Region is also to enable individual, people from the community as well as party members to research, advocate, organize leadership training, ensure governance innovation among others.

Focusing attention on research work and data collection on governance issues, leadership, and social matters affecting the development of the party and Western Region are some of the other activities planned.

The founder of the think-tank said he had the vision many years ago but was waiting for the right time to actualise his intentions.

According to Cobbinah, the establishment of the centre has received an overwhelming endorsement from party stalwarts and kingpins yearning to honour great members of the party who have over the years made laudable contributions to the formation, management and sustenance of the party.

“I propose that all past regional chairmen and secretaries shall be patrons of the Governance Center, Charles Cobbina, also known as Kempes, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Center has said”

Speaking at the inauguration of the center, it was explained that “the vision, to establish the Paa Grant-Krakue-Asmah International Governance enter has been on the drawing board for over years”.

“Mpohor, will be our headquarters; we would like people from far and near to visit our town to know the opportunities that are available so that they can also tap into it as well as support in growing the Western Region “he said.

Mr. Cobbinah encouraged the individual especially those who are from the region to visit the center and support financially so that “when it comes to education, scholarship can be awarded to brilliant but needy students in the area to further their education and develop their skills as well”.

Charles Cobbina bids for position;

Charles Cobbinah, popularly known as Kempes is bidding to be the 2nd Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western Region.

He has worked in the non-governmental organizations industry at the local and international level for over two decades, an event expert among others.

Kempes, has been a member of the party since 1992 and has participated in a lot of activities as well as supported in research and campaign strategies, government appointee in the Takoradi sub metro, regional representative and secretary to the constituency elections among others.

“What I bring to the table; It is time for the NPP to become the dominant political party in the Western Region to enable us receive and attract the needed attention. In this regard, I will bring all my experience, network, orientation and technical knowledge to bear to win in 2010 elections”, he said.

He said, he will help create young business men who will contribute their quota to the development of the party and the region as a whole.

“I will bring the regional machinery to the door step of the constituencies and the polling station as well as promote a recognition and reward system for all existing and former executives at all levels” he said.

Some of the founding fathers of the NPP in the Western Region are Mr. George Alfred Grant, popularly known as Paa Grant who was a Minister of State in the Busua regime, Mr. Stephen Krakue and Mrs. Gladys Asmah.
