World cocoa prices have fallen sharply since late 2024 yet that fall has not translated into relief for cocoa farmers as the cost of producing cocoa hasn’t dropped with it.
The Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited (CMC) has launched a 24-hour operating model aimed at removing bottlenecks in the movement of cocoa from take-over centres to local processors, ports and international markets.
It appears that the current government is at war with cocoa farmers and thousands of people whose lives depend on the cocoa sector. The government’s resetting agenda is negatively impacting a subsector that has been the backbone of Ghana’s economy since the 1879s.
