The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) has held its 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) to elect new executives and plan for the year ahead.

The institute’s leadership reiterated to members its intention to step-up collaboration with both public and private universities with the aim of ensuring that every business school in Ghana serves as an Accredited Study Centre (ASC) for the recently launched CIMG qualifications.

The re-elected National President of the Institute, Dr. Daniel Kasser Tee, in his address reiterated that one of the most remarkable achievements and feat of the CIMG over the last years have been the passage of the CIMG bill into an Act.

The new act, Mr. Kasser Tee noted, mandates the Institute to provide training, conduct examinations and award Professional Marketing Certificates. He added that the institute cannot do this by itself hence the need to foster affiliations with all universities to enable CIMG deliver on its mandate.

He mentioned that there are ongoing collaborations with the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA); University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA); University of Ghana, Legon; Ghana Technical Education Commission (GTECH); African Marketing Confederation (AMC); Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM); UK ACCA; the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) Ghana; West African Examination Council (WAEC); Pearson and British Council, to forge stronger collaboration for the successful execution of the qualification Programme.

“To intensify education and whip up membership drive to improve retention and loyalty for members, while encouraging marketing students in all public and private institutions of learning to see CIMG as an aspirational professional body, we will start this by building branches at the regional levels, using structures at the marketing departments of existing public universities and, particularly, technical universities.

Under this, we have seen the launch of the Professional Marketing Qualifications, and the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to serve the ever-growing career needs of marketing professionals.  Again, being a responsible professional body, we immediately set in motion an ambitious project to ensure the complete localization of professional marketing examinations by the close of March 2021,” he said.

On the way forward, CIMG also seeks to strengthen ties with its research partners to feed the Ghanaian public with relevant research information to improve the quality of life, continue to court non-professional marketing practitioners to enroll for certification as a way to strengthen professional and ethical marketing practice, and the resolve to pursuing relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 and 17.

The re-elected President of CIMG, urged all members to pursue excellence and further their education in the profession to remain on top of the business and make meaningful impact in society.
