The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson has disclosed that fish stress caused the death of the fish that washed ashore at Osu beach on Sunday, April 4, 2021.
She made the disclosure on her Facebook wall, citing preliminary investigations by Veterinary Doctors of the Fish Health Unit of the Fisheries Commission.
“I today interacted with Veterinary Doctors of the Fish health Unit of the Commission to be updated on the progress of the investigation so far.
According to Dr. Peter Zidda, a fish health Specialist of the Fisheries Commission, preliminary investigations conducted so far has revealed that the fish kills occurred as a result of stress factor on the side of the fishes.
He, however, added that, further pathological investigations on the gills of the fish kills are ongoing and any new development will be made public,” the minister’s Facebook wall said.
