Chief Fisherman, Nii Odamttey told the B&FT in an interview donation were also received to complement their efforts.

According to him, the project was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility with the objective to assist the only Senior High School in the community to increase enrollment and enhance learning by accommodating more students from far and near.

“We started this project about 8 years ago, our plan is to build dormitory for the only secondary school we have in Tema Manhean. We want to raise the school to a higher level. Every year, the Ghana Education Service (GES) places students from other parts of the country here, but because there is no facility to accommodate them, they go to other schools. Now, we have finished the first floor so the students can occupy it when school reopens as scheduled by government,”Nii Odamettey said.

The Chairman of the Project, Ebenezer Anuwa-Armah, a native of the town said the project is a multi-stakeholder engagement worthy of emulation for the common good of the society.

He commended two Chief Fishermen, Nii Mattor and Nii Odamttey II, who led the fishermen into contributing their premix quota into the project.

Other stakeholders also include the Tema Traditional Council, Chairman of the National Premix Secretariat, Nii Lante Bannerman, Mayor of Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), Felix Nii Annang-LA, Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East, Daniel Kwatei Titus-Glover, Head Mistress and Board of the School and the youth of the area.
