TV Africa a wholly Ghanaian owned private television station which seeks to project the true Ghanaian and African values has introduced english content as part of re-branding of its on-air programmes.

According to the managers of the station, the move is to have the station stay competitive and also bring in some new refreshing broadcasting content and personalities to meet international standards.

The introduction of english programmes comes after TV Africa which was originally known for broadcasting in Ghanaian languages like Akan, Ewe, Ga, Dagbani among others, saw Groupe Ideal, a private financial holding company acquire majority shares from Kwaw Paintsil Ansah, a movie producer and sole shareholder.

New owners of TV Africa (Groupe Ideal) after its acquisition, then decided to embark on a re-branding of the television station to re-position it well and as a leading brand within the competitive TV market.

With the re-branding of on-air programmes, viewers are expected to have the best experience with presenters, content, news from all corridors, wonderful customer experience, in-depth analysis of national, and international issues which meet international standards.

Speaking on the first program of the day, “Breakfastlive” President of Groupe Ideal, Dr. Nii Kotei Dzani told lead host of the program Obuobia Darko that, there was the need for the group to diversify its investments hence, the acquisition of majority shares in TV Africa.

“let me say that, when you travel outside Africa, the news about Africa is reported from the perspective of those who are reporting it. And so, we said we need to get the African CNN or BBC which will report the stories exactly as it is and project the continent in a positive light. I do not see why we cannot compete with them. I believe we can and we will be able to do that by the grace of God.”

Dr. Dzani added that, the re-branding and launch of on-air programmes is just the first phase of the changes, adding that the second phase will be the station moving into the African region and going international by 2020 to compete and be known as the BBC or CNN of Africa.

The All-ladies morning TV breakfast show is expected to relax the morning of viewers with the other hosts being Nikki Samonas and Khadijat.

On his part, the Managing Director of the television station Ekow Blankson said the new TV Africa will be one to rely on for all information and well packaged educative programmes and news as is being guided by these values: amiability, adeptness and affability.

Apart from Breakfastlive, the other new programmes are G-Zone, Temperature to be hosted by Baby G or otherwise known as Baby Dapaah, Bumper-to-bumper, Video Ryde, Paemuka, Odoconfession, Newshour, Goal and Sportsworld.

TV Africa was founded by Legendary Ghanaian Movie Producer, Kwaw Ansah, 13-years ago.
