The Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana has held its 12th Graduation Ceremony, with a charge for HR practitioners to be more resilient to challenges of the Coronavirus pandemic and also hold true the values and ethics of HR practice in Ghana.
Addressing the 12th Graduation Ceremony at the Ghana Academy of Science and Arts, Executive Director of the Institute, Dr. Ebenezer Ofori Agbettor, called on the graduates to be good ambassadors for the profession.
“Your thinking must be strategic: you must stand tall, as you have been equipped with all the tools you need to distinguish yourself from the cowboys and girls in the industry. I want to encourage you to pay attention and deal with issues of diversity, sexual harassment, employee engagement and well-being, digitisation and remote working,” he stated.
The President of CIHRM Ghana, Dr. Edward Kwapong, stated that progress has been made in effecting a licencing regime for all HR practitioners in the country.
He revealed that since the institute has attained a charter status, in due course members will have to register with the Institute and be issued with a licence to practice. “Quack practitioners will thereupon be flushed out to make way for professionals,” he added.
Mrs. Florence Mangwe Hutchful, Managing Partner of 2MB Consulting Services Limited, speaking on the theme ‘Growing with the Institute’, narrated to the new graduates that through her association with the Institute she has acquired a wide network of professional colleagues.
“Some of the finest HR Professionals in our country today, these men and women helped me excel in my work by being available for consultations, offering encouragement – and more importantly, readily sharing critical information,” she explained.
She therefore charged the new graduates to join a Chapter and participate actively in all the Institute’s programmes and activities.
In all, 190 deserving graduates who completed the Institute’s level-
3 examination Professional Certification programme were officially presented with certificates.
