MTN Ghana has presented assorted items worth GH¢5,000 to the Tamale Central Mosque toward the Ramadan fasting.
The items included a Ram, 20 packs of water, 10 bags of rice, 20 varieties of soft drinks, 10 boxes of cooking oil and airtime, and form part of the annual support from the company to the Muslims in Ghana to aid in their fasting period.
MTN’s Northern Sector Sales Manager, Obed Adu-Amankwaah who presented the items, noted that the company is committed toward supporting the societies in which it operates. “The gesture is just a token from MTN to support the Chief Imam and Muslim Ummah during this period for a successful Ramadan,” he said.
He stressed that the gesture is also being organised in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and the Central Region to support all Muslim sects in this critical period of COVID-19. “It is our prayer that by the time we finish this Ramadan, the COVID-19 pandemic will be gone and the economy bounces back to normal; that will enhance the living conditions of citizens to enable them continue working with us,” he said.
He encouraged residents in the region to keep observing the COVID-19 pandemic precautionary measures put in place by the Ghana health service to help curb spread of the virus. “Let us wash our hands under running water and observe social distancing, as well use alcohol-based sanitisers regularly to help prevent the disease,” he said.
The Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Salam who received the items, expressed gratitude to the company for its kind gesture. He prayed for long life and success of the telecommunications company, and also commended it for the good services to customers.
