Sekyere Rural Bank Limited at Jamasi in the Sekyere South District of Ashanti Region has presented Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, and disinfectants to three hospitals in the bank’s operational territories.
The beneficiary health institutions include Jamasi Health Center, Agona Asamang SDA Hospital and Pope John Paul ll Medical Center at Jamasi all in the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region
The donated items worth GH¢10k includes ten Veronica Buckets, hand sanitizers, liquid soap, gloves, nose masks among other personal preventive equipment.
The General Manager of Sekyere Rural Bank, Mr. Michael Aidoo who presented the items on behalf of the Bank said the donation is to support the government’s efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus which has so far infected 1154 persons and claimed 9 lives.
According him, the pandemic has sent shivers down the spine of many across the world and has claimed lives and has affected economic activities in their operational territories and, there is the need to contribute to the government’s efforts to curb or control the spread of the virus.
Representatives of the beneficiary institutions who received the items on behalf of the health facilities were thankful to the Bank for the kind gesture.
They further expressed their appreciation for the numerous support the Bank has been giving to them and further called on other corporate entities to emulate the Sekyere Rural Bank example particularly in this abnormal time of COVID 19.
Speaking to journalists after the presentation, the Board Chairman of the bank, Dr. Francis Denteh said the pandemic is impeding economic activities and negatively affecting business operations, and as a socially responsible organisation it was extremely vital for the bank to take the initiative to support the government to fight the spread of the novel pandemic.
He urged the public to observe all the safety protocols that is social distancing, washing of hands regularly with soap under running water, and applying hand sanitizer among other personal hygiene as well as adhering to other precautionary measures.
The bank recorded a profit before tax of GH¢ 1.2million in the latest reviewed year from a loss of GH¢306,932, representing an impressive 481% growth rate.
This significant growth in profit, in spite of the major issues that confronted the Ghanaian banking industry, is attributed to the contribution of the bank’s esteemed shareholders and dedicated customers, who have demonstrated continued trust in the services the bank provides.
