The National Lottery Authority (NLA) is cautioning the public and media organisations not to fall victim to operations and activities of lotto fraudsters who are using different platforms and communication strategies to dupe unsuspecting Ghanaians.
The Authority said lotto fraudsters and social media miscreants use radio and television stations, Online, Facebook and WhatsApp platforms and other channels such as text messages, email and telephone calls.
A statement signed by Mr. Razak Kojo Opoku, the Head of Public Relations Unit of NLA said: “These lotto fraudsters and social media miscreants have succeeded in defrauding a lot of unsuspecting people through several Online Games, Facebook accounts/pages, WhatsApp platforms and other social media handles they have created using the Name and Logo of the NLA in different formats.”
It said the NLA will not be responsible for any losses incurred by unsuspecting people who are defrauded by the lotto fraudsters and social media miscreants.
The statement urged the public to be more vigilant, avoid greed and discontinue engaging the services of lotto fraudsters and social media miscreants.
It also cautioned the public and media organisations that private companies illegally operating NLA 5/90 Mobile Game using illegal Short Code have nothing to do with the Authority, adding: “NLA Official Short Code for 5/90 and VAG Lotto Games is *890#.
“The NLA would like to again caution the public to discontinue patronising theb2blotto.com and all other illegal Short Codes operating 590Games”.
It urged all citizens to Stay Home; Stay Safe; and live a healthy life.
“Play your 5/90 and VAG Lotto Games via NLA Official Short Code *890# via Vodafone, AirtelTigo and MTN.”
