Motorsport Federation, British High Commission host F1 British Grand Prix watch party

The Motorsport Federation of Ghana, in collaboration with the British High Commission Ghana, hosted an electrifying watch party for the Qatar Airways British Grand Prix at the Grasscutters Club House in Accra.

The event brought together motorsport enthusiasts, community members and dignitaries for a day of high-octane excitement and networking.

A celebration of speed and collaboration

Attendees were treated to a thrilling race weekend, highlighted by Nico Hülkenberg’s long-awaited podium finish in Round 12 at Silverstone. The atmosphere was electric as fans cheered for the historic moment, with Hülkenberg’s radio message… “PODIUM. P3, BABY!”… resonating through the venue. The race’s dramatic twists and turns kept everyone on the edge of their seats, reinforcing Formula 1’s global appeal.

Strengthening ties and future plans 

The event also served as a platform for the Motorsport Federation of Ghana to discuss its developmental initiatives with the Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Keith McMahon MBE. Key topics included:

  • Grassroots development – Expanding access to motorsport for young talents across Ghana
  • STEM integration – Leveraging motorsport to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education.
  • Collaborative projects – Exploring partnerships with the British High Commission to support these goals.

Mr. McMahon expressed enthusiasm for the federation’s vision, underscoring the potential for motorsport to drive both cultural and educational growth in Ghana.

The federation extended heartfelt thanks to the British High Commission, Grasscutters management and the vibrant community that made the event a success. The next watch party… the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps watch party is set for July 27 at Labadi Beach Hotel, promising another unforgettable experience for fans.
