Coral Reef Innovation Africa has launched its Learnairium learning platform to help bridge the digital divide between rural and urban Ghana and the entire Africa, by deploying cutting-edge technology and specialised training directly into classrooms, aiming to empower students with AI and digital  skills essential for future jobs.

At the launch, the Managing Partner of Coral Reef Innovation Africa, Richard Osei-Anim, said: “It is of worrying concern that students do not develop the skills required to drive economic growth in Africa, partly due to the lack of disposable income to pay for edtech services to complement traditional school”.

To this end, the Learnairium platform, affordable and accessible, will help students to build practical skills and become employable after school.

The platform encompasses AI-powered tools, debate fora and practical learning materials to prepare students for future work demands.

Learnairium platform brings devices, educational content, data and insurance into a subscription package, making it a one-stop shop for all and an affordable option, aiming at bridging the digital poverty in Ghana and promoting inclusive education.

Coral Reef Innovation Africa highlights that limited teacher training, outdated curricula and lack of resources have severely hindered the integration of crucial AI education into the Ghanaian school system.

Osei-Anim argued that these challenges leave students ill-prepared for a rapidly digitising global economy and risks stifling the continent’s development potential.

“Digital literacy is key to unlocking Africa’s development,” he stated, emphasising that “innovation in the educational landscape is required to drive meaningful change.”

The initiative aims to empower teachers by providing them with advanced tools and comprehensive training needed to deliver world-class, technology-driven education, place technology into schools and design curricula that give students hands-on experience with AI and digital tools.

It will improve access to devices and Internet connectivity to reinforce learning outside the classroom at affordable rates.

Learnairium also provides opportunities to earn while learning through Ad sponsorships and AI-assisted learning.

In Ghana where the digital divide is glaring in the face – threatening digital inclusion efforts, initiatives like these are more pertinent now than ever.

The initiative goes beyond simply providing hardware and learning opportunities. It focuses on building capacity that is sustainable within Ghana’s educational ecosystem.

By upskilling teachers, the project ensures the effective use of technology, which will then ripple to benefit countless students.

“The increasing digital skills gap has left many schools struggling,” Osei-Anim noted.

“Learnairium is empowering students with the tools to learn and thrive in today’s tech-driven world. More importantly, Learnairium will equip students in Ghana for future careers, helping them step confidently into a digital future.”

Coral Reef Innovation Africa envisions a future where all students have access to high-quality, technology-driven education.

“We are committed to transforming education in Africa through technology,” he affirmed. “Through Learnairium and our partners, we are actively shaping the future of education in Ghana and building the foundation for Africa’s success in the digital age.”

Supported by Absa Bank and Coronation Insurance, Coral Reef Innovation Africa – in conjunction with the Ghana Education Service – has already rolled out the platform in over 700 schools nationwide while anticipating to scale up to benefit every child.
