e-Crime Bureau emerged with prestigious cybersecurity awards at the 14th Digital Innovation Awards (DIA) 2025 formally the Ghana Information Technology & Telecommunications Awards (GITTA).
The DIA Awards remains Ghana’s leading platform that recognises the hardwork, dedication and impact of business leaders and institutions in the IT and telecommunications industry to spear innovation, encourage performing institutions and motivate professionals who are leading great brands and initiatives. e-Crime Bureau took away the Cybesecurity Company of the Year as well as Award for Excellence in Cybersecurity Training & Capacity Building.
The event which took place on June 27, 2025 at the Labadi Beach Hotel. It was graced by top government/public sector officials, diplomats, international partners, top Ghanaian and international brands and professionals.
In his welcome address Mr. Akin Naphtal, the CEO of Instinct Wave noted that 2025 marks a new chapter as DIA evolves into a Pan-African platform, celebrating excellence in digital transformation across diverse sectors—including government, telecommunications, fintech, banking, health, agriculture, education, and more. The 2025 edition introduced expanded award categories that highlight the leaders and innovators driving the continent’s digital future. These categories recognized outstanding efforts in deploying technology to transform, security and promote operations, accelerate innovation, and improve lives and livelihoods across Africa.
The event was graced by the Ambassador of the Republic of Israel, H.E. Roey Gilad as the Guest of Honor. In his address, he indicated the investments made by Israel has led to significant progress by ‘allowing global partnerships with key brands like Google, Microsoft, others which have opened Research and Development (R&D) centres in Israel and brought Israel to where they are today.’ He further elaborated that Ghana is currently at a point where Israel was a few years back. He highlighted the prospects of Ghana and lauded the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology & Innovation’s introduction of the One Million Coders Programme whose focus can create human resource capital in the technology space for Ghana. The 24/7 Economy drive will stir up creativity and growth which can be enhanced with partnerships and with focus on new dimensions such as digital innovation, cybersecurity and fintech.
The Bureau has over the years displayed great resolve and consistency in engaging the industry through innovative cybersecurity programmes with competent management, operations, support, solutions, technical and team consultants with varied backgrounds and expertise. The Bureau provides consistent cybersecurity advisory services through its cyber threat intelligence services. Continuous media engagements have provided opportunities to educate and raise awareness on very complicated cybersecurity developments.
The Bureau has also over the year under review provided cybersecurity technology solutions, advisory and technical consultancy services in the deployment of cybersecurity infrastructure and systems to key public and private sector institutions to aid in the prevention, monitoring, detection, response and investigation of cybersecurity threats and incidents.
The Bureau played a key technical consultancy role for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in identifying and closing capacity building and skills gaps of law enforcement agencies and players involved in the fight against Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA). The project involved extensive consultations with players across the country, in-country and international analysis to understand the situation of Ghana to foster actionable interventions to protect children online. It also involved the conduct of training needs assessment of stakeholders at the forefront, design of specific course modules/content and training of target groups to develop the capacity to train and lead the fight in addressing online child sexual exploitation and abuse challenges.
So far in the first half of 2025, the Bureau has trained over 190 professionals from about 51 institutions in various training programmes including Cybersecurity Essentials, SOC Essentials for Enterprise Security, Cybercrime Investigations & Digital Forensics (2 Sessions), Certificate in Cyber Security (2 Sessions), PECB Lead Cybersecurity Manager, Cyber Attacker & Defender, Certificate in Cyber Intelligence for Security Operatives and the Certified Data Protection Supervisor (CDPS).
The Principal Consultant of e-Crime Bureau was also recognised as the Cybersecurity Personality of the Year in view of his drive towards the growth of e-Crime Bureau to remain as the leading cybersecurity consulting brand in Ghana. Under his leadership the Bureau has seen significant brand visibility which has positioned and encouraged institutional confidence to patronize and believe in local cybersecurity capabilities to deliver quality cybersecurity services. Mr. Danquah has been at the forefront of many cybersecurity, digital forensics investigations, cutting-edge training programmes, projects and partnerships which has elevated the cybersecurity capabilities of clients and also addressed cybercrime challenges/incidents. Through his leadership, e-Crime Bureau has maintained growing collaboration and support with the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) through the annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM). The Bureau has also maintained growing collaborations with key institutoins such as the Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana (IIA-G), the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Ghana Microfinance Institutions Network (GHAMFIN), Ghana Association of Savings & Loans (GHASAC) through the MasterCard Foundation, among others.
The Principal Consultant of the Bureau, Mr. Philip Debrah Danquah acknowedged the hardwork of the Management of Instict Wave, organisers of the event for showing consistency in elevating top brands in Ghana’s IT and innovations ecosystem over the past fourteen (14) years.
