Cassona Global Imaging Ltd, a lead distributor of advanced medical imaging technology in Ghana and across Africa, has launched a groundbreaking recruitment initiative aimed at bridging the healthcare talent gap in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) by attracting top African medical graduates from international universities.
Cassona’s Chief Operating Officer, Leni Chigbu, as part of this effort, recently attended the graduation ceremony at Shenyang Medical College in Northern China, where she engaged directly with graduating African students and offered employment opportunities to outstanding candidates.
This strategic initiative reflects Cassona’s long-term vision to build a first-in-class, sustainable healthcare ecosystem in Sub-Saharan Africa, driven by Africans, for Africans.
By bringing together foreign-educated African medical graduates and locally trained professionals in Nigeria and Ghana, Cassona seeks to promote the cross-pollination of ideas and clinical best practices that will elevate the quality of care across the region.
Chairman and CEO of Cassona Global Imaging Ltd. John Chigbu, touching on the initiative, said, “Our goal is to blend global exposure with local experience. We are confident that integrating diverse medical perspectives will not only improve healthcare outcomes but also begin to reverse the trend of brain drain that continues to undermine health systems across Africa.”
Cassona’s recruitment programme is set to continue with additional drives scheduled in Ghana and Nigeria later this year. The company aims to establish a sustainable pipeline of medical talent that leverages both international education and local expertise to address the region’s most pressing healthcare challenges.
Through this initiative, Cassona reaffirms its commitment to building resilient health infrastructure and empowering African professionals to lead the transformation of healthcare delivery on the continent.
Training of Local Engineers
Cassona is not only recruiting international graduates to take over local jobs but has also been at the forefront of training local engineering students in the repair of medical equipment.
The company last year outlined comprehensive plans to train local engineering students with hands-on skills in medical equipment repairs.
With the overwhelming number of breakdowns of medical equipment in almost every health facility across the country, without engineering expertise to fix them, Cassona embarked on a mission to provide a long-lasting solution by granting engineering students in Ghanaian universities access to these machines with assistance from world-class engineers working with the manufacturing firms.
Mr. Chigbu stated that his outfit would provide comprehensive, practical, hands-on training. Students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment, workshops and industry experts who will guide and mentor them throughout the training programme.
“Through our collaborations with manufacturers, we will equip selected students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in repairing and maintaining medical equipment, ultimately benefiting the healthcare community.
“What used to happen is that companies come here to sell very expensive medical equipment to us and leave, while health institutions also go abroad to buy some for use. A few months and years down the line, the equipment breaks down and it becomes a white elephant because of unavailable expertise to fix it,” he said.
Cassona Global Imaging’s products range from imaging equipment, such as MRI, CT Scanners, and Mammograms from the United States to equipment, such as X-ray and Ultrasound machines from the People’s Republic of China.
The Company’s Services include imaging equipment installation, imaging equipment maintenance and repair, local technical support, and personnel training.
