At StarLife Assurance, sustainability is more than a corporate initiative, it is a commitment to future generations.

As a leading indigenous life insurance company, we recognize our responsibility to not only secure lives but to also safeguard our environment, where we operate.

Through a range of purposeful activities, we are embedding environmental consciousness into the fabric of our operations, culture, and client experience.

Greening Ghana, One tree at a time

As part of our annual greening initiative, staff were encouraged to plant trees in their homes, communities, churches, and other personal spaces.

This year, the response was overwhelmingly positive, with over 700 trees planted across the country—surpassing the 500 trees planted by staff in 2024. These efforts are part of our long-term commitment to improving air quality, enhancing biodiversity, and mitigating climate change.

In addition, StarLife proudly participated in the commemorative tree planting event held at The Forestry Commission on Friday, 20th June 2025. Our involvement in this national exercise reflects our dedication to collective environmental action.

Our tree planting campaign is also a call to action, reminding all of us that protecting the environment begins with simple, collective steps. Tree planting, while simple, is powerful. A single tree can absorb up to 22 kg of carbon dioxide each year. Imagine the impact when we all come together.

The StarLife Repurpose Challenge: Waste Meets Wonder

Sustainability is not just about large-scale actions; it’s also about changing mind-sets. That’s why we launched the StarLife Repurpose Challenge—a creative campaign that invites the public to see waste through a new lens. Using our StarLife-branded tissue containers, participants are encouraged to repurpose them into fun, functional, and imaginative items.

Whether it becomes a pen holder, a toy for children, or part of a DIY home project, the humble tissue box is being transformed in countless ways. This initiative is designed to spark creativity, promote recycling, and highlight how small actions can lead to significant change.

Embracing Sustainable Waste Management in the Workplace

In line with our environmental goals, we continued to strengthen our internal waste management practices, focusing on sorting and recycling waste materials to reduce our ecological footprint. By educating staff and implementing practical systems for waste segregation, we are making strides toward a cleaner, more sustainable workplace.

Digital Innovation for a Sustainable Future

Our sustainability journey is also reflected in how we serve our clients. StarLife has implemented digital on boarding and other digital services to reduce paper usage, lower our carbon footprint, and increase operational efficiency. Clients can now sign up for policies, make inquiries, and access support—all online, from anywhere.

This shift to digital not only enhances client convenience but also aligns with our eco-conscious goals. Every form that isn’t printed, every journey that isn’t made unnecessarily, and every process digitized, helps reduce waste and emissions.

Building a Legacy of Responsibility

At StarLife, we believe that building a sustainable future is everyone’s business. From planting trees to launching eco-friendly campaigns and digitizing our services, we are taking deliberate steps to make a difference. We invite all Ghanaians to join us on this journey—because sustainability starts with us, but thrives with all of us.

Let’s grow a greener tomorrow, together.
