AgroCrown West Africa Company Limited has reinforced its commitment to rural development with the commissioning of a new borehole in the Ofosu community, located in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
This life-changing initiative forms part of the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to address critical infrastructure deficits in underserved areas.
During a brief but significant commissioning ceremony, Nana Kwame Afful, Director of AgroCrown West Africa, emphasised the company’s mission to uplift communities in need.
“When communities need us, we step in to improve their lives,” he stated, highlighting the dire situation Ofosu residents previously faced—sharing water sources with cattle. “Access to clean water is a basic human right. This borehole is more than a facility—it’s a lifeline that will directly enhance health and well-being,” Mr. Afful added.
Executive Director, Pearl Gborglah, reaffirmed the company’s focus on farming communities, stressing that they form the backbone of the nation. “We are committed to these communities because when they thrive, the country thrives,” she said.
The new borehole is expected to drastically reduce waterborne diseases and ease the daily burden on women and children who often travel long distances to fetch water.
AgroCrown’s CSR strategy, rooted in local insights and proactive community engagement, has previously led to initiatives such as the 2023 construction of a school block in Lungbung in the Tolon District of the Northern Region.
As the Ofosu community celebrates access to clean water, Mr. Afful urged residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining the facility, calling it a “shared asset”. AgroCrown West Africa continues to set a benchmark for socially responsible business, demonstrating how the private sector can play a transformative role in national development.
